Psalm 85: 8-13 (NRSVA)

8 Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
    for he will speak peace to his people,
    to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
9 Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him,
    that his glory may dwell in our land.

10 Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet;
    righteousness and peace will kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness will spring up from the ground,
    and righteousness will look down from the sky.
12 The Lord will give what is good,
    and our land will yield its increase.
13 Righteousness will go before him,
    and will make a path for his steps.

I’ve been angry in some of my writing this week. But the other night I was reminded that there is always hope. I was channel surfing after a long day working. I stopped at a nature programme where they were showing how land in Slovenia which was once industrial had been returned to wilderness. Nature had reclaimed the land.

If we act together, now, we can still halt the worst effects of climate change. We can still protect our planet, our shared home. Our shared home that our Lord God created and asked us to take care of.

PRAYER:

Lord you are good

May our love and our faithfulness cause us to act

To preserve your creation.

May we be your voice of justice and righteousness.

May we be your hope

To bring light and life to your world

Amen
