A sending peace

John 20: 21
21 Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’
I love to imagine that scene, Lord Jesus, when you appeared in that locked and shuttered room and spoke peace to your frightened disciples.
I love to imagine you, getting really up close and personal, to breathe peace into them.
To breathe peace into their fears.
To breathe peace into their desires.
To breathe peace into their regrets.
To breathe peace into their shame.
To breathe peace into their yearning.
To breathe peace into their doubt.
To breathe peace into their longing for another chance
to love and serve you.
Risen Lord Jesus
Do the same for us
We who profess to know you
Yet still doubt
still let you down
still hide behind closed doors.
Get up close and personal with us
Breathe your peace on us
so that we are compelled
to love and serve you
by loving and serving your world.
