When I need to feel God’s peace…..
Sit still. Feel the weight of your body going down to the floor. Breathe deeply. With every breath bring your mind from the future or the past to the present. With every breath bring your focus back to this place where you are now. Breathe deeply, knowing that God is present in this moment.
As you breathe in and out, say a single word of prayer. You may want to focus on “Abba”, the Aramaic word for Father, or “Maranatha”, the Aramaic word for “Come, Lord Jesus.” On each breath, in or out, repeat that simple prayer of affirmation or invitation. Sit for five minutes, breathing your prayer.
Slowly, your busy head quietens. You find a new stillness in your heart centre. God’s breath mingles with your breath, holding your heart and mind in the peace that passes understanding. He is closer than we know.
God’s peace be with you.
