Thank you for redeeming love

Ephesians 1: 3-14 (NRSVA)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love. 5 He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight 9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. 11 In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, 12 so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. 13 In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; 14 this is the pledge of our inheritance towards redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.
This expressive section of Ephesians is one long, flowing sentence in the original Greek. Here, in one of the most profound passages in the New Testament, we are given a glimpse into the rich spiritual blessings offered through Jesus Christ. It is a hymn of praise and gratitude for God’s eternal grace and love.
Paul is pouring his heart out, blown away by the thought of God’s redeeming love. All the riches in the world cannot compare. God’s love is vast and unfathomable, while sensitive and caring.
In a world where mistakes and failures often define us, the message of redemption offers hope and restoration. Our mistakes may humble us, but our sins should never put our relationship with God in question. God remains faithful. God's redemptive love offers a new beginning and a restored relationship with Him.
The New Testament does not tell us to “redeem ourselves” in order to move forward from past sin and error. Rather, we are invited simply to accept the gift of redemption bought for us through the loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
And so today we give thanks for redeeming love. God’s redeeming love calls us out of ourselves and who we want to leave behind, so that we can be made new.
Security and comfort are to be found in the arms of a redeeming God, who has gone to amazing depths and lengths — all for us! Let us celebrate the blessings we have in Christ. His redeeming love encourages gratitude, strengthens our faith, and inspires us to live with hope and purpose. Let us walk daily in the joy of His spiritual blessings.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for the inheritance I have in You, redeemed through the sacrificial love of Jesus. Let this knowledge guide my choices and my actions. Help me to live as Your child, reflecting Your holiness and love. Lead me each day, and remind me of the eternal promises I have in Christ. Amen.
