Praying through it all

Listen to this daily worship
Exodus 2: 23-25 (NRSVA)
23 After a long time the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned under their slavery, and cried out. Out of the slavery their cry for help rose up to God. 24 God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. 25 God looked upon the Israelites, and God took notice of them.
Just as God heard the groans and sighs of the captive Israelites, God hears all your inhales and exhales, your effort and frustration. God, majesty of majesties, draws alongside you, aware, not just of what you say, but of how you say it, and what cannot be put into words.
Let us pray:
Today God I’m going to pray though
delight and exasperation
folly and wisdom
insight and ineptitude
relief and fear
easy sighs and sudden gasps
snorts of laughter
and coughs of irritation
ragged sobs and smooth inhales.
Let my very breath be a continuous prayer today.
Amen, Amen, Amen.
