Re: Configured
Listen to this daily worship
Psalm 29 (NRSVA)
1 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name;
worship the Lord in holy splendour.3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the Lord, over mighty waters.4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon.6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,
and Sirion like a young wild ox.7 The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.9 The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl,
and strips the forest bare;
and in his temple all say, ‘Glory!’10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned as king for ever.11 May the Lord give strength to his people!
May the Lord bless his people with peace!

David,
IT’S ALL GETTING A BIT TOO LOUD IN HERE. CAN YOU LOT TURN IT DOWN A BIT?!
Normally, I don’t mind the singing and music from the temple; sometimes it’s really quite nice. But today, it was just TOO MUCH, especially the bass, boomy bits.
Ornaments, jars and pans fell off my walls and broke. There’s hardly a thing here that’s been left whole. They will all need to be put back together again and re-made: Can you send round one of your craftspeople? At least they do good work.
I look forward to hearing from you soon on this,
— A NEIGHBOUR.
PS I’ve heard that you’re in a composition frenzy. That must a couple of dozen songs you’ve been subjecting us to recently. I hope you’ve not got many to go.
Prayer:
Father God, we confess to you that we are guilty of not being content.
Help us to:
Calm our rage
Moderate our temperament
Stifle our need for recrimination.
SPEAK LOUDLY TO US and re:configure our mindset to help us discern true injustice, to wisely understand righteous anger, and to — in all things — seek peace.
Re-stitch our patchwork personalities with threads of purple yarn, hems of golden braid and bindings of scarlet ribbon so that our new wholeness is a vibrant, affirming and pleasing reflection of what you have made of us.
Amen
